WEDNESDAY 13TH NOVEMBER 2019

‘Pharoahe is incredible, and has always been ahead of his time’ Eminem

New York rap legend Pharoahe Monch today announces he is bringing his Internal Affairs tour to Dublin.   In celebration of the 20th anniversary of this groundbreaking album, the Grammy winner comes to Button Factory for Wednesday 13th November with very special guests.

Tickets for Pharoahe Monch’s Internal Affairs show cost EU22.50 and will go on sale at 9am this Friday 20th September from www.selectivememory.ie

PHAROAHE MONCH

Widely regarded as one of the best flowing lyrical emcees in the game, Pharoahe Monch released three albums as half of rap duo Organized Konfusion. But his real stroke of genius  before he ventured alone to make his first solo record, Internal Affairs. This album has become known as one of the greatest underground Hip Hop albums ever, prowling from soul-driven melodies on tracks like “Queens” to the crowd-heaving hit “Simon Says”, a single which continues to dominate dancefloors.

A New York native, Monch’s creative motivation & output is as consistent as ever, even with 20 years experience on the scene. He continues to make music, receiving a Grammy for his work on the original Miles Davis motion picture soundtrack “Miles Ahead” in 2016, along with releasing three further albums of his own, and collaborating with other huge names, from Erykah Badu to Talib Kweli.

“Pharoahe is incredible, and has always been ahead of his time since he came out.”- Eminem
“Pharoahe Monch is like an eloquent linguistics professor moonlighting as a rhyme serial killer terrorist, challenging the listeners’ I.Q. while daring him or her to keep up.” – Kool Moe Dee
‘NY veteran MC has wedded deep, soulful, beats to unique verbal cadences, expert metaphors, and the lost art of storytelling’  NME

Internal Affairs

Internal Affairs is the solo debut from former Organized Konfusion member Pharoahe Monch, released on Rawkus Records and Priority Records. Monch creates a harder sound than heard on the previous Organized Konfusion records. The album spawned the Hot 100 hit "Simon Says".

Organized Konfusion (OK) is an alternative hip hop duo from Queens, New York. Though not commercially popular, the duo was one of the most respected and acclaimed underground hip hop acts of the 1990s, largely due to the groundbreaking lyrics of Prince Po and Pharoahe Monch.

Praise for Pharoahe Monch & Internal Affairs

‘His commanding presence and dexterity are the makings of a great rapper. If Internal Affairs hasn’t caught your attention yet, I suggest you pick it up. It’s truly a post-modern classic from one of the few unique artists in a world of cookie-cutter sound-alikes.’

Troy “Pharoahe Monch” Jamerson is a near-universally loved and respected underground rapper. He released three extremely well-regarded albums with the duo Organized Konfusion in the 1990’s, including the classic Stress: The Extinction Agenda

Since the group’s demise, he’s released several fantastic albums' worth of boom-bap beats (occasionally with a gospel touch, as on 2007’s Desire), dense wordplay, political musings, military metaphors, and thoughts on the state of radio and today’s hip-hop (hint: he doesn’t like it very much)
