FESTIVAL INFORMATION

Boardmasters Festival returns to Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach from Wednesday 10 August to Sunday 14 August 2016. As always all music and camping activites will be held at the Watergate Bay site, and all surfing, skate, BMX, shopping and beach activites will be held at our Fistral Beach site, near the town centre.

MUSIC & CAMPING AT WATERGATE BAY

Age Restrictions: Persons aged 15 or under must be accompanied by an adult or guardian of 18 years or over. More info here.
Noise & Volume: Noise levels may exceed 96dB. Prolonged exposure to loud music may affect your hearing. For advice on how to protect your hearing visit the Action on Hearing Loss website
Smoking Policy: No smoking is permitted in any of the indoor areas. Smoking in any indoor area is illegal and could result in you being fined.
Food & Catering: Catering units are present all over the arena - including a classic Cornish Market - offering a huge variety of succulent food. Whether you enjoy Mexican, Italian or a taste of the West country there's plenty on offer. You will also find breakfast and snack bars within the campsites operating a service into the small hours, as well as a general store selling foods, sanitary products and camping equipment... all the essentials!

*note: VIP and Charger ticket holders do not need to purchase Car Parking. Standard Weekend ticket holders will only be allowed access to campsite and arena from Thursday 11 August. Day Ticket holders cannot access the campsites.

ENTRY & WRISTBANDS AT WATERGATE BAY

Weekend tickets are scanned upon entry to the campsite entrance and exchanged for a matching wristband. Day tickets and Three-Day passes are exchanged at the main Arena entrance. Last ticket/wristband exchange is at 23:00 at all entrances.

Campsite re-admission policy:
If you are arriving please be aware that the ticket and wristband exchange closes 23:00 every night. When you have your weekend camping wristband you will be able to move between the arena and campsite all the time. Day ticket holders will not be able to gain access to the campsite.

Main Arena Re-admission Policy:
Day ticket holders cannot exit and re-enter the arena. Weekend, three-day and VIP weekend ticket holders can re-enter the arena until 23:00.

ALCOHOL POLICY AT WATERGATE BAY

• No glass allowed. Alcohol brought to the festival must comply with the event regulations which are: Weekend campers aged 18 and over can bring in limited amounts and types of alcohol. You may be asked of proof of age. Quantity per person: 24 cans beer or 18 cans of cider or 3 litres of wine or 24 bottles (must be plastic) alco pops. No spirits allowed. All drinks must be unopened and NO GLASS!


• Excessive amounts of food and cigarettes may be refused entry to the site. Only bring enough for personal consumption.


• Alcohol is on sale at the event but you must be 18 or over to purchase it. Bring ID, you will be asked each time you buy a drink. It is illegal to buy alcohol for another person who is under 18. Challenge 25 is in place at all bars. Accepted forms of ID are passport or drivers license.


• Alcohol will only be permitted on first entry to the festival campsite. You will not be able to exit & re-enter with alcohol by use of your wristband.


• Alcohol cannot be brought into the festival arena. It will however be on sale inside the arena.


• Day ticket holders are not allowed to bring in any alcoholic drinks.

WHAT TO BRING TO WATERGATE BAY

• Sun tan lotion


• Tent and sleeping bag


• Cash (although cash machines are available inside the arena)


• Waterproof clothes and wellington boots (just in case!)


• Mobile phone (a 'temporary' phone would be advisable in case of damage and loss)


• Warm clothes for evenings

PROHIBITED ITEMS IN ARENA AND CAMPSITE

• glass


• illegal substances, psychoactive substances, nitros oxide and legal highs


• aerosols, spray cans (including deodorants, perfumes, aftershaves, hairspray)


• Spirits (alcohol)


• anything that could be reasonably considered for use as a weapon


• candles 


• Portable or disposable barbeques/gas/paraffin lamps or any fire/gas related cooking equipment


• Portable laser equipment and pens


• sky lanterns 


• megaphones 


• air horns, compressed air


• fireworks, flares


• large sound systems 


• animals with the exception of guide dogs


• generators, apart from those permanently built into campervans


• gas canisters or cylinders apart from those fitted in campervans


• unofficial tabards or hi-vis jackets


• professional camera or video recording equipment (including SLRs and anything with a detachable lens)


• Campfires are NOT permitted

Campervan notes:

• Built in generators are allowed


• No electricity or water hook ups are available


• Each campervan, caravan or motorhome may have one tent alongside (four-man maximum)


• Cars cannot be parked in the campervan site - they may be used as towing vehicles but must subsequently be moved from the site


• Music is permitted at a 'sociable' volume


• Alcohol policy above applies to those in campervans


• No pets are allowed (with the exception of guide dogs)


• Plastic cups and cutlery permitted - knives will be confiscated


• All "What not to bring" points above apply

SURFING AT FISTRAL BEACH

Dates: Wednesday 10 to Sunday 14 August 2016

Tickets: Not required for surfing, skate and BMX events, retail village and beachside areas at Fistral Beach, all free of charge.
Beach Session Tickets: Tickets are required for The Beach Sessions gigs on Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Tickets are not yet on sale for these events. 
Travel: Fistral Beach is a separate location to Watergate Bay, please plan ahead if travelling between sites. A shuttle bus service runs between the two sites, more info below. Also see location and directions.

Age Restrictions: Fistral Beach is free access for all ages, however you must be 18 or over to attend The Beach Sessions.
Wristbands: The Beach Sessions are the only ticketed events at Fistral Beach. Please note: Beach Session ticket holders cannot exit and re-enter the venue.
Alcohol at Fistral Beach: Alcohol will be sold at The Beach Bar - please ensure you bring photographic ID and be aware that we operate a Challenge 25 policy.
Cash Machines at Fistral Beach: Cash dispensers are available, but they charge a small fee.
Smoking at Fistral Beach: No smoking is permitted in any of the indoor areas. Smoking in any indoor area is illegal and could result in you being fined.
Camping: There is no camping at Fistral Beach

WHAT NOT TO BRING TO FISTRAL BEACH

Prohibited items include: alcohol, drugs, weapons, glass, pets. Searches will be carried out by the security staff at the entrances, and prohibited items will be confiscated.

Confiscated items will be destroyed and therefore unavailable for collection on exit from the festival.

CAMPING AT FISTRAL BEACH

There is no option to camp at Fistral Beach. All Boardmasters camping is located alongside the Main Arena up at Watergate Bay.

PARKING AT FISTRAL BEACH

A car park is located on Tregunell Hill. Please endeavour to park away from the event site and walk down as the festivities encompass the entire Fistral Beach area.

Headland Road Closure: The road leading down to the beach is closed during the event, this is due to traffic congestion in the past. Avoid trying to access this road.

SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE BETWEEN WATERGATE BAY & FISTRAL BEACH

A shuttle bus will run between the Watergate Bay Festival Site and Newquay Town Centre (for Fistral Beach). Single ticket: £3  Return ticket: £5. A reduced service will run on Monday morning back to Newquay for all leaving the campsite between 08:00 - 15:00.
