Celebrating and listening to young people: the National Young Persons’ Conference
Young people achieve incredible things every day, often having had to overcome significant personal issues such as low self-esteem, poor body image, racism and bullying. Turning to drugs or alcohol for a means to cope is common. Young people are most at risk of developing drug and alcohol problems later in life, and by receiving early support, there is a better chance of preventing significant problems before they start.
Our one day internal conference for young people will be held in the London KIA Oval on 3 July. It's free for staff and young people to attend, and delegates are attending from all over the UK to discuss the issues they face and the support they need.
This conference will be a chance for young people and staff supporting young people to share their stories and talk about what has helped them stand the best chance of achieving their ambitions.
A range of speakers, including young people and representatives from mental health charity YoungMinds, will focus on three main areas:
- Early intervention
- The Digital World
- Self-harm
Refreshments and lunch will be provided. Please check with your line manager for permission to attend.
